The Dragon Queen

For Mandy’s Junior Year at UMASS Dartmouth, she was inspired by the tabletop roleplaying game Dungeons and Dragons to create an avant-garde fashion collection with a flair of fantasy.

The dragon goddess Tiamat of Dungeons and Dragons lore represents power. Mandy was driven to have the wearer of her designs feel they could embody or slay a dragon.

Junior Collection Research

I started my research within a feeling of comradery and whimsical nostalgia found in Dungeons and Dragons and Renaissance Faires.

As I continued creating my collection I added in the concept of the Dungeons and Dragons, Dragon Goddess Tiamat. Her 5 heads served as the perfect inspiration for my 5 models’ looks. From that foundation, I expanded by adding historical elements, including knit faux chainmail to drag my collection into escapism.
